QUICK ANSWERS TO COMMON QUESTIONS FOR QUILTING PATTERNS: (not all of these apply to piecing patterns)

Can I use your patterns to quilt or make quilts for others or or sale? Yes, but only in a cottage industry setting. If you are doing manufacturing, you need to contact us about royalties. You will also need to give us credit on the invoice or other documentation, but not necessarily the label.

Can I use your embroidery patterns to quilt or make quilts for sale? Yes, but only in a cottage industry setting AND only for finished objects.  You many not quilt and sell "blocks" for customers to sew together to make a quilt, for example.  The quilting must be on a finished object. If you are doing manufacturing, you need to contact us about royalties. You will also need to give us credit on the invoice or other documentation, but not necessarily the label.

I'm not using them anymore, can I sell your patterns? If they are a Paper Roll, yes. If they are digital (Computer, Embroidery, Panto-Lite or PDF patterns) you will need to contact us. To transfer a license, we require that the seller needs to be COMPLETELY getting out of the business - e.g. selling all their equipment in addition to the patterns. If you are just replacing your system, we will not transer the license. If you have never used a piecing pattern, you may sell it, but you may not sell it if you have.

Can I put your pattern on a system I rent? No, as the purchaser, you are the only user who is licensed to use the pattern. The pattern is licensed to you, not the system.

Can I put your pattern in a guild library or similar resource center? No, as the purchaser, you are the only user who is licensed to use the pattern. We do not license patterns to guilds or sell books, quilt patterns, etc. to guilds or libraries. Our policy is that the owner of the license for any of our products is only one individual!

Do you require a share of winnings if I enter a quilt quilted/made with any of your patterns in a contest and win? Definitely not! But, we do ask that you let us know that you have won and the details. If it is at all possible (this is not a requirement) we would also like a picture of the winning quilt for use on the website. If you're in the picture, even better! You must also clearly identify the Designer and Munnich Design as the source for you pattern on the entry.

Can I put your digital patterns on more than one machine? Yes, you can put out patterns on up to 3 machines, but there are rules. Not only must OWN all 3 machines, but you need to be the only user of all the machines.

Can I digitize a pattern from one of your printouts to use on my computerized system?  Yes, but ONLY for personal use.  You cannot share that digitized image, even if the other person owns a printed version.  Likewise, you can create a printed version from a digital version for your personal use, but you cannot share it.  These types of derivative works violate copyright and must be destroyed if you should decide to sell your patterns and equipment.

PIECING PATTERNS

This is more a general explanation than a copyright notice.  Patterns contain their individual copyright notices, but this gives a good overall explanation.

You may not photo copy or otherwise copy any of the information in the pattern.  HOWEVER if the pattern contains templates that are clearly marked, you can copy them for your personal use with the pattern.  You cannot copy them and give them to someone else.  They are only for use by the owner of the pattern for with the pattern.

You are welcome to make the quilt and sell it.  However, the license is for up to 5 quilts per pattern.  If you are making more than that it is considered manufacturing and you should contact us OR just buy another pattern and make another 5 quilts!  Your choice.  Contacting us on any grey areas is a good idea!

You can enter the quilt in a contest or make it for a raffle, etc.  We request that you give us credit for the quilt design on the documentaion that goes with the quilt and whatever you send the judges or purchaser including, but not limited to the invoice.  It is not necessary to credit us on the label.

If you are teaching a class using the pattern, everyone in the class has to buy the pattern.

If you and a friend are making only a SINGLE quilt from the pattern together, OR if a SINGLE quilt is a group project, that they are making together at one time, you only need one pattern.  However, you cannot make copies to distribute to each person.  They must all work from the original pattern.

If you have any questions please contact us and we will be happy to clarify things for you.  IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A GUILD or STORE block of the month or other project, please contact .  We have inexpensive solutions for guilds and stores.
